Prank Wars

Dorm life can be quite dreary at times. Thankfully the holidays come around and encourage us to spruce things up a little. They are the days that get us all up and moving around! Today, is one of those days. In fact it is one of my own, personal favorites and it has come around once again – for better…or for worse.

A reminder actually came for me today, or as I like to refer to it “a call to arms”. At exactly one thirty this afternoon. I had just come back to the dorms from class only to find that a letter had been slid carefully under my door.

Mind you I did not notice at first, my guard had been down for too long during these past few months of blizzard watch. Thankfully I had not forgotten about all of my precautions on this day. When I picked up the envelope and held it up I could see little glints of light against the paper.

Only one thing could make such twinkling speckles, glitter. I was being “glitter bombed” as my friend Sarah calls it. I hopped over to the trash and opened it over the bucket to prevent the hap-hazardous material from spreading across my room. Inside was the note you see above as well as a small message.

Luckily for me (not so much for them) I always come prepared:

This is a small portion of user friendly pranking materials that I keep on hand but can also be found in and around a normal dorm room. They also are used for safe (victim friendly) pranking and retaliations.

Where can you find these?

Art majors almost always have glitter, if not for class then for side projects seeing as they are pretty crafty people in general.

People who like to fish tend to have fishing line with them, it can be just as handy as duck-tape.

Tea lovers, myself included, stock things like honey and sugar. (prank note – tea bags can make the water you use in a water gun a different color and smell but avoid letting it sit for too long and do not add anything else to it, this way it will wash out easily. Otherwise vinegar and color safe bleach cleaners should work just fine)

Lastly, If someone has had a birthday recently and their friends decorated their door or dorm room to surprise them, then they will probably have some left over balloons and ribbon. Besides who doesn’t have a pack of 500 water balloons on hand for birthdays?

Considering midterms have passed and we still have about a month before finals it is a great time to take part in stress relieving activities. We all need a break from the crazy amounts of essays and exams that have been going on recently.

Knowing my dorm floor, today is going to be a tricky day, but in a good way.
